What is a FIAOMC?
FELLOW OF THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF ORTHOKERATOLOGY AND MYOPIA CONTROL

  • Fellows have undergone advanced training and rigorous testing to demonstrate their level of expertise in myopia control and orthokeratology
  • A Fellow is the gold standard and represents the highest level of knowledge, ethics and patient care in the myopia control.
  • Fellows serve as mentors and role models for other practitioners as well as the general public.

On their journey to attain the FIAOMC, the candidate must meet rigorous professional standards:

  • Membership in the EurOK or IAOMC for at least the past two years
  • Possess the IACMM (International Certification in Myopia Management)
  • Present several highly complex cases the candidate has personally designed and managed
  • Pass a two-hour written test
  • Pass a two-hour oral examination where they are presented with difficult and challenging cases. The candidate must identify problems and propose unique solutions for each case.

The candidate’s performance is then evaluated by a team of 3 experienced FIAOMCs.
If they determine the candidate has demonstrated superior fellowship-level skills, the honor of FIAOMC is granted.
This journey is rigorous and currently, there are fewer than 200 FIAOMCs worldwide.
